Ryan Howard has offically hit the disabled list on Saturday, after his left knee continued to be sore. Howard may need sugery, as he will have a MRI in the upcoming week. Hopefully, he'll be able to recover the lost power in his legs. After hitting his 11th homer Friday, Howard "hobbled" around the bases, clearly showing something was wrong. Whether that was a setback or not is unknown. Howard has played 80 games this season, and has 11 homers. That would put the Phillies power hitter on pace for about 22 homers. Those aren't the numbers you look for in someone who signed a 5 year, $125 MM contract just two years ago. With the loss of Howard, the Phillies called up Darin Ruf, who had hit 38 homers in AA Reading last year, breaking the previously set record for homers at Reading by Ryan Howard. Ruf did play in Saturday's game, as he appeared as a pinch-hitter and went 1-2 with a run. Ruf is in the lineup Sunday, starting at first base.
