The Detroit Tigers and outfielder Rajai Davis have agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca.
Davis, 33, has great speed. He stole 45 bases in 2013, to go along with a .260/.312/.375 slash line. He also hit 6 home runs and drove in 24 RBI in 108 games with the Blue Jays. The righty is able to play all three outfield positions. Over his career, Davis has hit .268/.316/.377. He averages 53 stolen bases per every 162 games; speed that will be lost in Toronto and gained in Detroit. Davis will be heading to a Tigers outfield that included Andy Dirks, Austin Jackson, and Torii Hunter last season. He will provide speed that the Tigers did not have last season. Austin Jackson led the team in steals last season with eight. Expect Davis to hit leadoff and play left field in place of Andy Dirks.
