Chase Utley has spent his entire career with the Phillies, and looks to finish it in Philadelphia. After being a trade topic for teams like the Kansas City Royals that where in need of a second baseman, Utley was still in pinstripes following July 31st. The Phillies had hinted that they could be signing him to an extension. Today it happened. The Phillies and Ultey have agreed to a 2 year, 27 million dollar guaranteed extention. Multiple options could be included in the contact, but the details are unknown on the topic. Utley has been in a Phillies uniform since 2003. In 1275 career games, Utley has 214 home runs and 781 RBI. He has a career .287 BA. This season, Utley is hitting .275 with 15 HR and 42 RBI. This move keeps the guy that Philly fans adore probably until his career is over. The deal wasn't necessarily a "player-friendly deal", and by the reacton on Twitter, Phillies fans seem to be very happy that they can keep their all-star second baseman in Utley.
