On Sunday night, the Angels were down 4-3 against the Rangers. Jered Weaver was on the mound. The very next pitch was hit straight back at him, nearly hitting him. But, while Weaver was diving away from the ball, he had injured his left (non-throwing) arm. It was later found out that he had broken it, and would be out at least a month.
Weaver, 30, has a career record of 102-53 with a 3.25 ERA. Last year, Weaver was 20-5, and a very large part to this pitching staff. The Angels are able to overcome this injury, though. With Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols, and Mike Trout, the Angels should have no problem bringing run support to help this pitching staff.
