Extension Update: Outfielders Christian Yelich, Adam Eaton extended by Marlins, White Sox

Here's the latest on a couple of extensions that happened last week:

• The Miami Marlins have extended 23-year-old outfielder Christian Yelich on a seven-year, $49.57 million deal. He can be controlled for an eighth season through a club option. Yelich was not scheduled to hit arbitration until 2017, as this extension is the second-largest extension ever for a player between one and two years of service time. He will make $570,000 this season before making his larger yearly totals, which reach up to $14 million in 2021. Last season, Yelich hit for a fantastic .284/.362/.402 line, hitting nine homers and driving in 54, also capturing a Gold Glove. 
• The Chicago White Sox extended 26-year-old outfielder Adam Eaton on a five-year, $23.5 million pact, with team options for 2020 and 2021 valued at $9.5 and $10.5 million, respectively. Eaton was acquired as part of a three team trade last December, and played in his first full big league season in 2014. Eaton, a former 19th round pick by the Diamondbacks, hit .300/.362/.401 with a homer and 35 runs batted in at the top of the White Sox' lineup. Eaton will make $850,000 this season, and by the end of his deal in 2019, he'll be making $8.4 million. This is a good guarantee for a late round pick that has just over two seasons of Major League service.
