I decided that it would be fun and informative to my readers to provide a quick daily recap of all the games. So, here is the 1st Edition of my "Daily Recap".
Daily Recap: April 4, 2013 Reds 5, Angels 4 Reds Choo, Frazier, and Heisey hit homeruns of Joe Blanton. Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols each accounted for 2 RBI. SP: Arroyo (CIN) W, 6 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO Blanton (LAA) L, 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO Cubs 3, Pirates 2 Cubs lead by 3 heading in to bottom 9. Carlos Marmol got Neil Walker to ground into a game-ending double ply with the tying and winning runs on base. SP: Wood (CHC) W, 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO McDonald (PIT) L, 7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO Twins 8, Tigers 2 Mike Pelfrey allowed 2 unearned runs in 5 1/3 innings. Josh Willingham and Trevor Plouffe homered each to back their starter to a victory. SP: Pelfrey (MIN) W, 5.1 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO Porcello (DET) L, 5.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO Padres 2, Mets 1 Eric Stults went 5 scoreless for the Pads, and Dillion Gee went 6 plus innings, but the Padres run in the eighth was able to hold off the Mets run in the ninth. SP: Stults (SD) W, 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO Gee (NYM) L, 6.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO Royals 3, White Sox 1 Jeremy Guthrie pitched six innings of one-run ball, and the Royals three run fifth was enough to outlast the White Sox. Alex Gordon and Chris Getz had 1 RBI each for the Royals. SP: Guthrie (KC) W, 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO Floyd (CWS) L, 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO Orioles 6, Rays 3 O's continued their hot hitting with Chris Davis collecting 4 RBI with a double and homer. J.J. Hardy also added another homer. And the Rays could not keep up. SP: Gonzalez (BAL) W, 6.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO Hernandez (TB) L, 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO Athletics 8, Mariners 2 With Yoenis Cespedes' and Josh Reddick's homers, the A's were able to cruise to victory behind a strong pitching performance from A.J. Griffin. Michael Morse did go long for the Mariners. SP: Griffin (OAK) W, 6 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO Maurer (SEA) L, 6 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO Nationals 6, Marlins 1 The Nats finished their 3 game sweep of the Marlins just fine. Jayson Werth hit a three run longball, and Jordan Zimmerman handled the mound with six innings of one-run ball. SP: Zimmerman (WSH) W, 6 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO LeBlanc (MIA) L, 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO Phillies 2, Braves 0 Cliff Lee pitched eight shutout innings and Ben Revere's RBI single and Chase Utley's sacrifice fly lifted the Phils to their first win of the 2013 Campaign. SP: Lee (PHI) W, 8 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 SO Medlen (ATL) L, 5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 SO Yankees 4, Red Sox 2 Andy Pettitte allowed only 1 run over eight innings and Mariano Rivera pitched his first save since being injured of last year. The Red Sox could not pull off a sweep in New York. SP: Pettitte (NYY) W, 8 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO Dempster (BOS) L, 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 SO Blue Jays 10, Indians 8 The Blue Jays picked up their first win of the season behind five homers. They expected this offence after what they acquired in the offseason. The Indians could not pull off the sweep. SP: Buehrle (TOR) ND, 5.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO Myers (CLE) L, 5 IP, 7 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO
