The Rays have been in four cities in three days. Playing in Toronto on Sunday, Texas on Monday, the Rays face the Indians in Cleveland tonight for yet another elimination game. This time, however, they are in the playoffs, and have a chance to be able to advance to the American League Division Series. They will be sending Alex Cobb on the hill, as he looks to shut down the red-hot Indians bats. He went 11-3 with a 2.76 ERA over this season in 22 starts. He faced the Indians once this season, pitching 7.1 shutout innings, en route to a Rays victory. He was at Tropicana Field, however. The Indians will be sending rookie Danny Salazar to pitch, as he went 2-3 with a 3.12 ERA over his short season in the big leagues. Both of his two wins are at home, as he strikes out more hitters in Progressive, and is able to get more outs. His home pitching is what could lead the Indians to a victory tonight. My prediction: Both these teams are very evenly matched, making this prediction harder and harder by the second. Two relatively youn pitchers will be going at it in a elimination game. But, I have to go with the Cleveland Indians in a 7-5 victory. The hottest team in baseball should be able to beat the tired Rays. I think they will be facing the Red Sox for the ALDS.
