In a time where New York is struggling with injuries at practically every position, they still have a good enough team to "buy" at the trade deadline. Alfonso Soriano is their newest outfield piece, as he was dealt from the Cubs. Now getting a homecoming in New York, Soriano waived his no-trade clause officially this morning, as the deal was approved by the MLB. Soriano began his career for the Yankees in 1999.

Alfonso Soriano will add plenty of pop to a Yankee lineup that could certainly use some. He has a career slugging percentage of .503, to go along with 389 home runs. With 1,989 hits, he may be able to reach the 2,000 hit plateau soon after being traded. Soriano has a .254 BA this season with 17 HR.

In return the Cubs will get to choose one two pitching prospects; Corey Black and Tommy Kahnle. They could have one other option as well, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (Twitter). Black has a career 3.79 minor league ERA, and is currently in A+. Kahnle has a 3.01 career ERA, and is progressing nicely in AA. This season Black's ERA stands at 4.25, while Kahnle's is 2.47.

The Cubs will be paying all but $6.88 MM of Soriano's deal. He becomes a free agent next season.
