What a game in Arlington. The Phillies posted their highest Opening Day run total since 1900 in their 14-10 victory over the Rangers. With Cliff Lee (1-0) on the mound, this would not have been expected, but the Phillies offense was still able to get him the win. It took the Phillies six innings to score ten runs, while it took them 81 games for them to score ten in a game last season. Jimmy Rollins (1) hit a grand slam, Cody Asche was a triple shy of the cycle, and both Ben Revere and Chase Utley (along with Asche) totaled three hits.

For the Rangers, Tanner Scheppers became the second pitcher since 1945 to make his first start on Opening Day. Even after giving up six runs in the second, Scheppers blew another lead in the fourth, and his day was done there. Alex Rios was one of the main cogs in the Rangers' 10 run attack, talking three hits, while also hitting a three-run home run (1) off of Cliff Lee in the third.
