Prediction: The Yankees will have a "2012 Phillies" collapse

Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira are down for the first few months of the season. A-Rod is one more year older. Derek Jeter can't keep his triumphant seasons. I think the Yankees will have troubles this season, especially since the Blue Jays and Orioles have been on the rise. I am sorry to say, but the Yankees will not make the playoffs this season.

After the Orioles have had their spirits lifted after their first playoff appearance in my lifetime, and the Blue Jays acquired big name, but smart, moves this offseason, it looks tough for the Yankees to compete in the division that they have ruled for a long time. Even the Red Sox have made some smart offseason acquisitions. But, you can pretty much forget about the Rays.

In a perfect world, the Yankees replacements will fare well enough, so that when their stars return, they will be in position for a fine year and make the playoffs.

We said that about the Phillies last year. Look what happened. Ryan Howard's and Chase Utley's injuries led to injuries of Roy Halladay. Vance Worley also had elbow problems last year. This was defianitely the domino effect.

I think the most reasonable answer for the Yankees is 86-76 and 3rd in the AL East. This means that I think that the Blue Jays and Orioles will finish 87 wins or above. And, yes I do.

Sorry Yankee fans!

It's an interesting division. I see all five teams as second-place caliber. The O's are good but have no depth. The Sox really revamped their roster in what I think is a good way. The Yanks, as you said, are old, but I think they're still good. The Rays are the Rays; you never know with them. The Jays overhauled their roster, and that doesn't always turn out good because over 162 games, chemistry is certainly an issue. I think no matter how one configures the division, it is possible prediction.
