Cover The Bases Exclusive: An Interview with Corey Black

The Yankees and Cubs completed a trade involving Alfonso Soriano, sending him to New York. In exchange for Soriano, the Cubs received prospect Corey Black, whom some of you may not know. Cover The Bases got a chance to have an interview (via Twitter) with Corey Black, the prospect headed to Chicago.

Cover The Bases: How does it feel to be traded for an outstanding baseball player in Alfonso Soriano?

Corey Black: It seems unreal especially since I watched [Alfonso] Soriano when I was still playing youth baseball.

CTB: What's it like playing for an organization with so much history in the Cubs?

CB: I feel as if I'm going from one historic [organization] to another from the Yankees to the Cubs. I just look at it as another opportunity which I am happy about.

CTB: What pitcher do you want to resemble in your career?

CB: I really like [Roy] Oswalt. I've been compared a couple times to him and I've always liked the way he throws.

CTB: Do you have any advice for any other prospects that may be traded during this year's deadline season?

CB: Don't take it personal. It's another team, not a different game. You still get to wake up and play baseball for a living.

I like to give a big thank you to Corey Black for making this interview possible. I also would like to wish him good luck in Chicago! I hope you enjoyed reading!
