Cuban pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and the Phillies contract talks have hit a snag, according to MLB.com. There have been injury concerns regarding his elbow, as he had bone spurs removed in Cuba.
The Phillies out bid the Red Sox in the sweepstakes for Gonzalez, with a contract offer of 6 years for 48 million dollars.
Gonzalez was thought to only need a few minor league starts to be able to pitch in the major leagues. The 26 year old has mid-rotation potential, as he can pitch into the high 90s and has multilple breaking pitches.
