I’m someone who loves to break down players when they are in the news, and Greg Holland is no exception to this rule. On Wednesday, the Diamondbacks agreed to a one-year, $3.25 million deal with Holland, if only to recapture enough magic to flip him at the 2019 trade deadline.

It has been well established that former Rockies, Expos and (for a brief time) Cardinals outfielder Larry Walker deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Yet he received just 54.6 percent of the BBWAA vote when the results were announced on Tuesday. And while he did make some significant gains this cycle, Walker heads into his final year of Hall of Fame ballot eligibility 20.4 percentage points shy of election.

As we all know, Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina and Mariano Riverareceived the 75 percent of the BBWAA vote necessary to earn enshrinement, and deservedly so.
Click here to read the full article on Beyond The Box Score. The Yankees made a major bullpen addition on Thursday, as they agreed to sign free-agent relief pitcher Adam Ottavino to a three-year, $27 million deal, as first reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Ottavino is one of baseball’s most dominant pitchers, and he is the second major bullpen move for the Yankees this offseason. Lefty Zach Britton re-signed with New York in early January for three years and $39 million. The Yankees’ bullpen, already ranking tops in the Major Leagues last season with 9.7 fWAR, consists of some of the best arms in baseball. In addition to Ottavino and Britton, the Yankees have Aroldis Chapman, Dellin Betances and Chad Green on their active roster. Oklahoma Sooners quarterback and Oakland Athletics 2018 draftee Kyler Murray officially announced his intention to declare for the NFL Draft on Monday, ending a nearly two-day saga in which fans awaited his decision.
Murray, as many of you know, won the Heisman Trophy for his outstanding quarterback play at Oklahoma. He also was picked in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft, where the Athletics drafted him ninth overall as an outfielder. With the deadline to declare for the NFL Draft on Monday, Murray had to make a decision: fully commit to playing professional baseball, or pivot to playing football. Murray can still play baseball, but with the news on Monday, the door remains open for a professional football career. Had he not declared for the NFL Draft, professional football would not have been an option. By declaring, however, he has made his intentions clear.
